Our Vision

We are a self-designed and self-managed cohousing community where people of all ages and experiences live in creative harmony with each other, the land, and the greater community.  We are a compact settlement of homes, businesses and common spaces, supported by green infrastructure, connected with trails and paths, surrounded by farming and productive landscapes, within a pattern of interconnected and healthy forests, fields, waterways, soils and clean air.

Our Mission

  1. We celebrate and encourage a diversity of ages, orientations, spiritual beliefs, backgrounds, ethnicities, and experiences among our members.
  2. We govern ourselves through Sociocracy, a consent-based decision-making process, to understand others’ perspectives and find common ground.
  3. When conflicts arise we resolve them in a spirit of good will, based on civility, kindness and trust, and actively develop skills that support compassionate communication.
  4. We cultivate relationships with, collaborate with, and contribute to the surrounding community
  5. We nourish our children and their growth through fresh air, free play and caring guidance.
  6. We value our children as members of the community, encouraging participation and responsibility.
  7. We create and share an inviting common house that embodies our desire for meaningful social interaction, shared meals, and spaces for working, playing and relaxing together.
  8. We design our community to encourage social interaction while preserving spaces for privacy and solitude.
  9. We encourage a cooperative work ethic where everyone participates.
  10. We create a mixed-use neighborhood through home- and community- based businesses, workshops, studios, barns, and a variety of housing options.
  11. We create beauty and bounty in our community with gardens and landscaping, on both private and shared land.
  12. We refresh our spirits through play, rituals, recreation and traditions that celebrate and honor the seasons and our need for creative and playful self-expression, including art, dance, music and theatre.
  13. We design, build and live within our community in ways that reflect our ecological values.
  14. We cooperatively manage common resources and assets including land, infrastructure, and structures.
  15. We practice sustainable farming, forestry and productive use of land, striving towards greater community self-sufficiency.
  16. We actively manage, conserve and enjoy our fields, forests and waterways.
  17. We conserve natural resources through sharing, bartering, recycling, and composting.
  18. We honor and respect our wildlife, preserving and providing the habitat they need to thrive.
  19. We treat farm animals and pets humanely, giving them the love and care they need to lead healthy lives.
